ETA: Got the okay from Triangulation editors Pete Butler (blairhippo ) and Jospeh Benedetto (keleyat ), so I'm unlocking this for the general public now. This is a big learning experience for me, and my hope is that it will also be beneficial to other writers considering submitting specifically to Triangulation. I think I know where I'm going now.  I might even know how I'm going to get there.

I didn't knock out a ton of words today -- I've been incredibly distracted for some reason -- but I think that's a pretty big improvement from where I was yesterday.

1) Reread what I already have.  Relatively okay. 
2) What happens next?
3) Wait a minute!  Should thIs be first person or third person POV?  Debate!
4) Why the hell am I writing in present tense?  Must need more coffee.
5) Pretty scene.  Needs some conflict, though.
6) Maybe I should work on a playlist for this story...?
7) Focus!  What happens next?

I broke ground on a new short story today.  I have the beginning scene down and I know what one of the plot lines is going to be about.  I've no idea how the story ends, though (not surprising for me, really).  I thought I did but now I find myself waffling slightly.  It's going to be set in the same world as "Saint Darwin's Spirituals," which ( Read more... )

Glenn James, who did the killer illustration inside of Murky Depths 4, has a new website up featuring a ton of his art, including the piece he did for "Saint Darwin's Spirituals".  Interesting thing about his illustration process: Glenn first created the golem in the story with Playdough as a model, then used ink and brush to illustrate it.  I love ( Read more... )
